Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
